A backup path wavelength rearrangement scheme in an all optical network

چکیده

In this paper, we propose a backup path wavelength reassignment scheme that greatly improves the connection blocking probability in an all-optical network without interrupting the service of ongoing traffic flows. The unique feature of our scheme is that it performs wavelength retuning on the backup paths to improve the acceptance probability of new connection requests. We showed through simulation experiments that the proposed scheme reduces the connection blocking probability by 15% to 40% when compared with the schemes without wavelength rearrangement. In addition, we showed that the combination of backup path wavelength rearrangement and traffic grooming could further improve the network performance.
